About Us
The Trauma and Psychotherapy lab is led by Dr. Kors, who studies developmental psychology, intergenerational transmission of trauma, and clinical training. Dr. Kors is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Loyola University Maryland and a lecturer at Harvard Medical School.
The lab's current research focuses on substance use, outcomes of psychotherapy, and barriers to health care. The substance use research focuses on the causes of opioid addiction in pregnancy and preventative interventions for this population. Additionally, the research seeks to understand how early primary attachment relationships and early experiences with drugs impact both people's courses of addiction and future parent-child relationships. Research on health outcomes is primarily focused on underserved populations' access to trauma-informed mental health care. The research explores how systematic barriers to equitable care impact treatment outcomes for underserved populations in the public sector. Clinical research training focuses on bettering the everyday usefulness of the mental health curriculum in introductory psychology courses and the effectiveness of graduate psychotherapy courses for beginning clinicians (both these projects are currently grant-funded by the APF and IPA).
